MANILA (13-Feb-2013) – On the first day of the campaign period, netizens have also started to heed the Commission on Elections’ call for vigilance on misplaced campaign materials of national candidates running in the May polls.
Netizens have posted photos and videos of misplaced campaign materials on the Comelec website mycomelecmain.tv and Twitter account @COMELEC.
Some of the photos posted by vigilant netizens include campaign posters of Liberal Party senatorial bet Sonny Angara hanging on electric posts, commercial advertisements of another LP senatorial bet Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Kabataan partylist.
Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez has urged the public to help the poll body monitor national candidates running in the May polls.
“Nasa EDSA ka ba? Baka may makita kang bus na may political ad sa likod? Pichuran mo at #SumbongMo sa @comelec #votervigilance,” Jimenez tweeted.
Netizens may post photos on the website mycomelec.tv and on Twitter.
The poll body earlier reminded candidates to strictly follow campaign rules or face “criminal liability.”
As the campaign period starts today, the Comelec also begins the regulation of campaign propaganda and counting of campaign expenditures. (PNA)
