SORSOGON CITY (BicolToday.com/7-Feb-2013) – Newly installed Police Provincial Director PSSUPT Ramon Ranara presided a coordinating conference on the salient provisions of Comelec Resolution 9615-A in preparation for a massive implementation of the ban on carrying, bearing or transporting of firearms and similar prohibitions during the election period.

Attending the conference are the Philippine Army contigent heaed by Lt. Col Teody Toribio of the 31st IB, head of security agencies operating in the province and the chief of police of the 13 towns and the city here at the function hall of the Sorsogon City hall yesterday.

The provisions of the Comelec Resolution 9615-A was discussed by the chief of Plans and Operations of Sorsogon Police Provincial Officie SORPPO, PSUPT Arturo Brual expanding the topic that covered the use of authorized uniforms of PNP personnel and Protection Agents during the election period and the manner of deputizing and training of security personnel as a force multiplier.

Chief Inspector Nonito Marquez, PCR/PIO of SORPPO during a media briefing revealed that the PNP here will be monitoring and will set-up COMELEC checkpoints on strategic areas to ensure a peaceful conduct of campaigning and negate criminal intentions to sow havoc and fear during the campaign period which might be interpreted as a political act.

“It is our primary concern to maintain peace and order at all times, we will be strictly implementing the gun ban and related laws to deter those who are inclined to test the resolve of the local police” he said. [BicolToday.com]
