LEGAZPI CITY (10-Jan-2013/PNA) – A 45-year-old widow regarded as “shabu queen” in the port area of this city fell in the hands of operatives from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Bicol regional special enforcement team (RSET) Thursday morning.
Arrested was Clemencia Ayson, aka “Emi” and “Mercy” and resident of Barangay 30 Pigcale, a coastal village near the Legazpi City Base Port.
Five medium-sized sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, with a street value of P50,000 were seized inside her residence by RSET members in the presence of witnesses from the barangay council of Pigcale, local media and the Department of Justice.
Pigcale barangay chairman Isabelo Alamo said he warned Ayson about four times since late last year to stop her illegal drug business in the area but the latter repeatedly declined his advice.
The operatives were armed with Search Warrant No. T-2013-01 issued by Albert Rabe, presiding judge of the Regional Trial Court Branch 15 in Tabaco City.
The suspect is currently locked up at the detention cell of PDEA Bicol regional office at Camp Gen. Simeon Ola here while a case for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Ayson’s two brothers-in-law had been arrested one after the other in the last quarter of 2012. They were both charged in court with no bail recommended.
Ayson’s arrest is the second big haul in PDEA’s “volume-oriented” anti-illegal drugs drive this year.
The first was the arrest of a male big-time pusher and seizure from his possession of 2.4 kilos of dried marijuana fruiting tops in Barangay Mabolo in Naga City on Jan. 6. (PNA)
