Sorsogon board member, politician-commentator evade arrest, free on bail

SORSOGON CITY – A Sorsogon board member and a broadcaster-politician posted bail on Thursday afternoon, December 13, after turning themseves in before police authorities when warrants of arrest were issued for them by the court in connection with cases of libel filed against them by a former town mayor.

By posting bail of Ph 10,000. each, Roland Añonuevo and Board Member Joey Guban has evaded being arrested and are now on temporary liberty. Añonuevo is a broadcaster-commentator and also a politician connected with PADABA FM station, while Guban owns Lann’s Radio Media Network which operates PADABA FM station 103.9 DWOL FM.

Per police record, former Bulan Mayor Guillermo de Castro filed a case of Libel against Añonuevo. Judge Adolfo Fajardo of RTC Branch 65, Sorsogon City, entered the complaint as Criminal Case No. 12-1404 and 12-1405, and then issued for his arrest on November 29, 2012 with recommended bail bond fixed at Ten Thousand Pesos (PhP 10,000.).

The same judge also issued a warrant of arrest for Board Member Guban under Criminal Case No. 12-1397, and recommended a bail bond of PhP 10,000. for his temporary liberty.

Añonuevo and Guban on Thursday voluntarily turned themselves in at the Sorsogon City Police Station and posted bail. Police officers Nonito Marquez and Iryn Miday released the two.
