GAZA (18-Nov-2012/PNA/Xinhua) – A Palestinian child was killed and more than 20 others wounded, including six journalists, in intensive Israeli naval and air forces strikes on Sunday, witnesses said.
Witnesses reported intensive shelling by Israeli helicopters and naval gunship on several houses in northern Gaza Strip, which killed one child and wounded 17 others.
The report was later confirmed by Ashraf al-Qedra, spokesman of the Hamas-run Health Ministry, who said the bombings also struck the office of al-Quds Satellite Channel in a building, injuring six journalists.
The wounded journalists were brought to Shiffa Hospital for treatment, he added.
Since the violence surged last Wednesday, 47 people have been killed and more than 500 wounded, he said, adding that 70 percent of the casualties are civilians.
Meanwhile, Abu Obeida, spokesman of a Hamas armed-wing al-Qassam Brigades, warns Israel in an interview with al-Aqsa Television not to carry out a large-scale ground military operation on Gaza.
“Such a decision will be the most stupid decision ever made by the Israeli occupation,” said Abu Obeida, adding that Hamas “hasn’t been weakened by the last four intensive Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.” (PNA/Xinhua)
