MANILA (26-Oct-2012/PNA) – Some 1,500 Muslims gathered at the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City Friday to celebrate Eid’l Adha.
Monitoring by the National Capital Region Police Office showed there were no known public figures during the Eid’l Adha morning prayer at 8 a.m.
”More or less 1,500 participants are in attendance. Negative for any known personalities. The gathering was being secured by the Quezon City Police District,” said Chief Supt. Leonardo Espina, NCRPO director.
In Camp Crame, Muslim personnel of the Philippine National Police also gathered at the Camp Crame Elementary School for the celebration.
Imam Aleem Sahid Ahmak Bashir led the celebration, citing the recent signing of the Framework Agreement between the government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front as a reason to celebrate more.
Director Lina Sarmiento, of the PNP’s Directorate for Police Community Relations, was the special guest.
As part of the celebration, the Muslim-policemen slaughtered goats which is part of the Muslim tradition. (PNA)
