LEGAZPI CITY (23-Oct-2012/PNA) – A revised version of the controversial Reproductive Health (RH) Bill containing amendments had made its way around the House of Representatives before session resumes on Nov. 5.
Dr. Eden Divinagracia, executive director of the Philippine Non-Government Organization Council on Population Health and Welfare (PNGOC) distributed copies of the amendments on Saturday in an effort to seek more public support and considerations from print and broadcast media in Bicol.
PNGOC is an umbrella organization of 97 non-government organizations across the country and has been in advocating for the passage of a law on reproductive health for more than a decade now. Divinagracia was here to attend the maiden radio broadcast of a program about the RH bill.
RH bill ally Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman was quoted in the PNGOC information materials as saying these new amendments contained in the new version of the RH Bill were deemed acceptable to both warring factions of the measure.
PNGOC fielded an advocacy team to this city for last Saturday’s maiden broadcast of its one-hour radio forum “Kapihan at Balitaktakan sa RH Bill 2012” in the hope of gaining more support for the passage of the RH bill into law. (PNA)
