CAMALIG, Albay (19-Oct-2012/PNA) – A jobless single-mother was arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Albay provincial office and its Regional Special Entrapment Team (RSET) in an entrapment operation inside her residence in Purok 1, Barangay Uno, this town Tuesday night.
A courier, a minor-looking male believed a nephew of the suspect who happened to arrive during the entrapment was fast to jump over the perimeter fence after seeing anti-narcotic operatives inside the house.
PDEA operatives identified the suspect as Carina Melendres y Llenas, 45 years old, a jobless mother of one. She was arrested in a buy-bust operation at around 6:45 p.m.
PDEA-Albay maintains a list of persons suspected involved in the illegal drug trade in the province labeled as “Target listed” and “Watch listed.” Listed in the former are those who after series of validation and revalidation are confirmed of “high value” and whose arrest will affect the drug supply chain in the area while the latter are those under direct supervision by target listed personalities.
Melendres is confirmed to be the number 2 in this town’s watch list PDEA operatives believe could be keeping in her house ample stock of the drug. The search warrant sought from a trial court however was not yet released that the law enforcers said they instead launched a buy-bust than lose the opportunity of arresting the suspect.
PDEA operatives confiscated from the suspect one plastic sachet containing suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride known as “shabu”, a marked P500 bill, six pieces of cut size boodle money and one unit X1 black Nokia cell phone.
Charges for Violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of R.A. 9165 have been filed at the Albay Provincial Prosecutors Office while the suspect has been kept at the PDEA regional office detention cell at Camp Gen. Simeon Ola, this city.(PNA)
