SORSOGON CITY (BicolToday.com/18-Oct-2012) – The theme speaks for itself for the 118th Foundation Anniversary of the Province of Sorsogon, thus agri related enterprises abundant and ready for investment were highlighted in the week long festivities of the Land of Kasanggayahan wherein the festival working committees headed by former Governor Sally Lee looks forward for 2013 to launch and re-highlight the abundance and development of agricultural products of the province.
Hosting national figures is secondary, this is just a way of soliciting support and further introducing the Province of Sorsogon to national consciousness as the reason for their presence in the affair. This was the reaction of the former governor when asked about the attendance of national personalities during the event. Adding, we have to focus our attention to the enormous potentials of our province using it as a tool to attract domestic and national investors. This way we are not only re-shaping the Sorsogon of today, but leading the next generation to promote the potentials of the province in other roadshow festivals.
Before hand, Sally Lee revealed that a poor man’s race of the carabao, the work animal most popular to
Sorsoganons is a tribute to the tenacity of Sorsogon farmers to till the land, such contributions was never missed by the planners of the Kasanggayahan 2012 festival, she said.
Gamely Sally Lee, role modelling as the mother of Sorsogon Province braved the afternoon heat together with Congresswoman Cynthia Villar of Las Pinas to join the Pantomina sa Tinampo, a dance ritual of love and courtship of old where most of the elder in the crowd were teary eyed and appreciative remembering their heydays of love and courtship.
As dancers after dancers interprets the love and courtship dance along the length of the city streets, part of the crowd was overheard that the festival is austere yet elegantly done , referring to the timely economic management of the governor’s wife of the funds allocated by the provincial government to maximize the impact of the festival.
Noticeable are the displays of native raw materials adoring most of the festival entrances and appropriately displayed at the doorways of government departments, a testimony that the Province of Sorsogon consider agriculture industries as a means to uplift the lives of its people.Not left out are the nipa huts at the capitol park use as show case windows of agricultural products which the Province of Sorsogon is noted.
Without mentioning the other activities which are well intended, Kasanggayahan Festival 2012 exhibited the life and times of its agriculture workers. The chairperson of the festival, Sally Lee summed it up, we are giving Sorsoganons its honors and value due them and to our visitors we welcome ur best intentions. [BicolToday.com]
