MANILA (11-Oct-2012/PNA) – The Commission on Elections has released on Wednesday the list of 13 disqualified party-list organizations, including Ako Bicol — the group that won the biggest margin in the 2010 polls.
Aside from Ako Bicol, the 12 party-list organizations that are disqualified to run in next year’s polls are:
1AANI, 1-BRO Filipino Guardians Neighborhood Inc (1Bro PGBI), 1Ganap/Guardians, 1st People’s Initiatives for Indigent Student Athletes (1st Prisa), A Blessed party list, Alliance for National Urban Poor Organizations Assembly Inc. (ANUPA), Alliance for Rural Concerns (ARC), Aral Association for Righteousness, Advocacy and Leadership (ARAL), Atong Paglaum, Oragon, UNIMAD, and Yes We Can.
Ako Bicol, which has 3 party-list representatives in Congress, faced disqualification in 2010 for allegedly violating the party-list law which only allows the marginalized sectors to participate.
Chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr said Ako Bicol’s nominees cannot transfer to other parties but its current representatives can continue their terms until 2013.
Earlier, the poll body revoked the accreditation of 27 other groups.
This brings the total number of delisted party-list groups to 40. (PNA)
