NAGA CITY (05-Oct-2012/PNA) – The widow of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse M. Robredo has opted to run for congress, to represent Camarines Sur’s 3rd congressional district.

Atty. Leni Robredo, who was earlier seen on nationwide television as the composed and eloquent widow of the popular government executive, decided Friday afternoon after talking with President Benigno S. Aquino III and DILG Secretary Manuel Roxas II.

It will be a close fight between the lady lawyer and former Monetary Board Member Nelly Favis Villafuerte, wife of the three-term Congressman Luis R. Villafuerte.

In previous interviews, Mrs. Robredo said she prefers a quiet life with her children and made known her desire to become a Regional Trial Court judge.

She was earlier named Camarines Sur Liberal Party chairperson. (PNA)
