LEGAZPI CITY (01-Sept-2012/PNA) – A 5.0 magnitude earthquake jolted the Bicol region on Friday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake of tectonic origin was felt in Legazpi City and Sorsogon.
Phivolcs instruments recorded the earthquake at about 8:47 p.m. with a magnitude of 7.7 with the epicenter in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Ed Laguerta Phivolcs resident volcanologist said instruments located the earthquake at 10.83 degrees North, 126.71.63 degrees East, 112 East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with depth of 10 kms.
No report of casualties and damages to properties were observed.(PNA)
