NAGA CITY (26-Aug-2012/PNA) – Local government units of the city bid farewell to Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, who became mayor for 19 years before he joined the Aquino administration.
Naga City Mayor John Bongat, in a chance interview on Sunday, said the City Hall is a necessary stop for Robredo’s remains.
Bongat said that in the 19 years that Robredo served as mayor of Naga City, he successfully turned the city from a third class city to a first class city.
“Hindi kumpleto ang period of mourning natin kung hindi dadaan si Secretary sa City Hall (the period of mourning for the DILG Secretary won’t be complete if his remains will not make a stop at the City Hall),” he noted.
After the arrival honors held in front of the City Hall, Robredo’s remains was brought inside for the liturgical mass and the reading of the Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC) of a Resolution of Condolences by Miss Sieflinde B. Bulaong.
A necrological service by Camarines Sur/Naga area pastors and ministry leaders will also be held in the afternoon after which public viewing and vigil will be held 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Another mass is scheduled at 5 p.m. to be officiated by Rev. Fr. Edgardo F. Adversario and sponsored by the City Government of Naga, Liga ng mga Barangay, non-government organizations (NGOs) and people’s organizations (POs).
A necrological service is scheduled in the evening, while public viewing and vigil will resume 9 p.m. until 12 midnight. (PNA)
