LONDON, July 29 (PNA/Xinhua) – World number two Sarah Menezes of Brazil overcame defending champion Alina Dumitru of Romania to lift the women’s 48kg judo title at the London Olympic Games here on Saturday.

Three-time world’s bronze medalist Menezes pulled off a waza ari to beat Romanian Dumitru. She had a disappointing 19th finish in Beijing four years ago.

Hungarian Eva Csernoviczki pushed aside favorite Tomoko Fukumi of Japan for the bronze and Charline van Snick defeated Argentine Paula Pareto for another bronze. (PNA/Xinhua)
