NAGA CITY (BicolToday.com/25-July-2012) – Reactions in protest over former President Gloria M. Arroyo jumping bail on Wednesday morning (July 25) and securing temporary liberty after the Pasay City regional court has found weak evidence on the electoral sabotage case filed against her, an offense classified as non-bailable.

Bayan Muna Partylist Representative Teddy Casiño said GMA on temporary liberty after jumping bail is a big slap on President Aquino who just boasted on his SONA two days ago that his Administration will exert efforts to hold GMA accountable for her crimes.

“The government filing of the electoral sabotage case against Arroyo was rushed, and the Aquino government has failed to build up any major case against GMA despite of cases filed earlier by various citizens’ groups,” Representative Casiño informed BicolToday.com. “The government must exert all efforts to hold GMA and her conspirators liable for their crimes they committed.”

So far, only the plunder case against GMA filed by cause- oriented groups now lodged at the Sandiganbayan last week is considered strong in evidence.

The Pasay court granted bail of PhP 1 million to GMA despite its non-bailable offense on the basis of documents and evidences submitted are weak for electoral sabotage case.

“The government case was weak in evidence from the start,” said Casiño. He stands confident that the plunder case of GMA on the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) misuse of intelligence funds lodged at the Sandigan will prosper.

As of late Wednesday afternoon, the former President, after securing the court release order, has left the Veterans Memorial Medical Center where she had been under house arrest, and proceeded to her daughter’s home in Queazon City where she will take as temporary residence. Street protests were waged by militant groups while pro-GMA supporters filled up the Pasay court premises and the Veterans hospital grounds. [BicolToday.com]
