NAGA CITY (BicolToday.com/18-July-2012) – BicolToday.com editors are invited to attend an environment forum on July 19, noontime, at UP Diliman College of Engineering Theater, University of the Philippines, Quezon City.

The forum will discuss long-standing environmental problems facing the nation which the Aquino Administration tries to put remedial measures. But, the government initiative for a thorough environment program lacks depth, and there is growing people awareness on environmental issues that demands deeper evaluation of Aquino’s policies and programs for the environment.

Called Usapang Pangkalikasan, forum organizers said the discussion will lead to a build-up activity leading to mass actions planned by green groups for the President’s third State of the Nation Address on July 23.

As evaluated, the groups see that the President only implemented a logging ban, designed a national greening program, and recently issued an executive order on mining. The activity will assess the Aquino Administration’s environmental record, and to get people’s position on environmental programs and policies.

Usapang Pangkalikasan forum is co-organized by Agham Youth, Center for Environmental Concerns-Philippines, Kalikasan Partylist, Kalikasan People’s Network for the Environment, UP Explore, and the UP Diliman University Student Council. [BicolToday.com]
