MANILA (27-May-12/PNA) – All well that ends well for the Coronas’ and Basas’ as the feuding family reconciled on Friday right at the gallery of the Senate session hall.
The heart-touching reconciliation took place while the impeachment court was on a break and the senator-judges were discussing in a caucus the unconditional confidentiality waiver that Chief Justice Renato Corona submitted to open his dollar accounts in public.
Corona’s wife Cristina, along with her daughter Carla, were the one who approached and hugged her nieces Ana Basa and Carmen Basa and other members of family.
After they engaged in short talk, Corona and the Basa sisters approached the chief magistrate near the witness stand where the Basas hugged and Corona hugged each other.
The fight for ownership of the Basa-Guidote Enterprises Inc. between Coronas and Basas has been dragged in the impeachment trial after Corona’s SALN revealed that he borrowed P11 million from the BGEI.
Corona admitted that the P34.7 million commingled funds of the BGEI were deposited in one of his three peso bank accounts.
The two families have been reportedly at odds for about 30 years. (PNA)
