TIGAON, Camarines Sur (BicolToday.com/27-April-2012) – Still reeling from public ridicule over unsolved robbery of 2 pawnshops that happened barely 25 meters away from a police outpost 10 days ago, the police force in Tigaon, Camarines Sur, is again slapped with a robbery of the Roman Catholic Church, which is some 175 meters from the police headquarters.

On Friday morning (April 27), the parish staff of Saint Claire of Assisi reported to police the robbery of items inside the Church. Taken by robbers are an amplifier, mixer, two wireless microphones, and an undetermined amount of church alms collections. The loot taken by thieves was estimated at P70,000.

Follow-up inquiry by Bicoltoday.com over the robbery became futile as parish staff Jojo Pajenago, who discovered the robbery and reported the incident to the police, refused to talk about the robbery, and instead informed this reporter the incident had been reported to the police. The parish priest, Fr. Noel Emmanuel Alforte, was not available for comment.

In a related development, the twin pawnshop robberies that happened on April 16 was still unsolved. No suspects were identified. Rumors were going around that the twin pawnshop robberies and the latest church robbery might be linked.

A policeman, preferring to remain anonymous, confirmed the existence of a crime syndicate operating within the nearby towns. Unverified reports also said the robberies had political connections, since the robbery incidents were allegedly designed to embarrass the municipal leadership and administration. BicolToday.com
