LEGAZPI CITY (23-March-2012/PNA) – At least two people drowned in separate incidence on Thursday in Brgy. Sabang, Bulan town and Brgy. San Francisco in Bulusan town, all in Sorsogon, a top official of the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Bicol reported Friday.
Jomar Gordolo, 19, resident of Brgy. Obrero, Bulan, went swimming with his friend at about 3:10 p.m. Thursday at Sabang Beach, but was carried by strong currents when he suffered muscle cramps while swimming, according to Bernardo Alejandro, OCD regional director.
Bulan Rescue Team conducted search and rescue (SAR) operation and recovered Gordolo’s body and brought to Pantaleon Gutladera Memorial Hospital (PGMH) in Bulan, Sorsogon where he was pronounced dead by attending physicians.
Meanwhile, Aida Fusana, 61, of Brgy. San Francisco in Bulusan drowned while trying to cross a flooded spillway at about 7:15 p.m. also Thursday in said village.
The low pressure area in Palawan has brought low to moderate rains in Albay and Sorsogon provinces for four days.
The rains also triggered a landslide in Brgy G. Del Pilar, Bulan, Sorsogon on Thursday, where a house owned by a certain kagawad Reblora was buried by mudflow. No casualty was reported. (PNA)
