SORSOGON CITY (BicolToday.com/28-Feb-12) – The Public Employment Service Office with the approval of Governor Raul Lee is readying the applications for the Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) for deserving students this summer of 2012, this was revealed by Lorna Hayag, PHRMO/PESO of the province.
In their postings, the programs intends to help poor but deserving students this summer of 2012 in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) targetting March 8, this year as registration date for qualified applicants beginning 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon, at the PHRMO office, second floor of the capitol building. It has set requirements for registrants; must be a high school graduate but not more than 25 years old, must be enrolled during the present school year, must not be a scholar beneficiary, must have a passing grade during the present school year, net income of parents after tax per annum must not be more than thirty six thousand pesos, the parents have been displaced or about to be displaced due to business closure or work stoppage, and, SPES blacklisters are not qualified.
The PESO will post qualified SPES registrants on the 13th of March at their office, on the 15th of March, the raffling for the slots will be held at the provincial gymnasium at nine o’clock in the morning and the submission of documentary requirements will be on March 23 for all qualified students. On the 30th of the same month, an orientation will be held at the Governor’s training hall at 9 in the morning.
PHRMO Hayag revealed that it has become a tradition in the provincial government of Sorsogon that SPES are offered to deserving and poor students to help them prepare for the financial needs by the coming school year. The province PESO she continued, with the program as its component, became a national PESO awardee for two consecutive years and is aiming to knock the grand slam for 2013. Aside from the program the support extended by the various departments of the provincial government made possible their success.
