LEGAZPI CITY (PNA/8-Jan-12) – Police and military forces would be tasked to secure facilities and equipment installed at the slopes of Mount Mayon after disaster authorities have declared this as vital installation, the Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) said Wednesday.
Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, PDRRMC chairman, at the Mayon Summit Forum on Tuesday said declaring the facilities as vital installation was approved in consultation with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) and the Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC).
Declaring the facilities as vital installation would give the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Philippine Army (PA) to carry out security measures that would protect the equipment from theft and vandals, Salceda said. (PNA)
