LEGAZPI CITY – A family of four were hacked to death on Monday by still unidentified assailants at a remote village of Pandan in the town of Castilla, Sorsogon, police said.
The victims were identified as Corazon Marvilla, 60 her daughter Gelandine Ortiz, 32, granddaughter Annika, 5 and grandson Joseph, 3, all sustained multiple hacked wounds that instantly killed them, Police Supt. Wilson Asueta, Philippine National Police (PNP) Bicol spokesperson, said.
Barangay Pandan village chief Randy Bueno reported to the police that the bodies of the four were found sprawled at the floor of their house in Sitio Tipun-Tipun of said village at about 9 a.m. Monday
Responding Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) said the crime could have been committed between 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday. They recovered a bolo believed to be used by the perpetrators in hacking the victims to death.
Asueta said the victim’s bodies were brought to the Urongen Funeral Parlor in barangay Cumadcad, Castilla, Sorsogon for autopsy.
Police probers said personal grudge against the victims might be the motive of the carnage.(PNA)
