Sailing of all sea vessels cancelled in Bicol due to ‘Falcon’

LEGAZPI CITY – The Albay Provincial Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO) announced Wednesday that sailing of all sea vessels has been cancelled due to tropical depression “Falcon”.

Albay Governor Joey Salceda, chairman of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said Wednesday that all passengers, cargo and fishing vessels with 35 gross tonnage and below plying the areas of eastern coast of Luzon including Albay province are advised to cancel their operations.

“Fishing vessels and other motorized “bancas” are prohibited to venture out of sea while larger are alerted against big waves,” he said.

All municipal and city disaster risk reduction management councils have been alerted to take the necessary contingency measures for possible landslide and flash floods specially in the high risk areas.

Meanwhile, the municipal government of Rapu-rapu has cautioned officials of 10 barangays identified by Mines and Geoscience Bureau as highly vulnerable to landslide.

The threatened barangays are Mancao Villahermosa, Bilbao, Binosawan, Calanaga, Liguan, Caracaran, Morocborocan, Nagcalsot and Bagaobawan. (Mike de la Rama/PNA)
