SORSOGON CITY – The National Museum and the National Historical Commission will send experts on archaeology, museology and cultural legislation for a free capability workshop for the first time in Sorsogon Province.
“The free capability workshop is the highlight of the series of activities in celebration of the International Museum Day, with the theme Museum and Memory,” Sorsogon Museum and Heritage Center (SMHC) Chairman Fernando Duran said.
Featured topics during the workshop are; Natural and Cultural Properties with National Museum Archeologist Wilfredo Ronquillo as resource person; Museums and Community with Dr. Ana Labrador, the technical adviser for Research and Museology of the national Museum; and, The Role of Legislation and Museums in Cultural Preservation that will be discussed by Atty. FD Nicolas Pichay, the legal consultant of the National Historical Commission.
The workshop will be held at the Fernando 168 Bistro in Sorsogon City, 8AM of May 20, 2011. Other activities will be story telling for children at 9AM on May 19, 2011 at the SMHC, Bacon Heritage Tour in the afternoon of the same day, Sorsogon Province Heritage Tour on May 21, 2011.
