8 missing fishermen rescued in Camarines Sur


LEGAZPI CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and authorities of the local government unit of Pasacao, Camarines Sur in a joint operation rescued eight reported missing fishermen in this town Tuesday.

Captain Felipe Macababbad, station commander of the PCG in Legazpi, reported that the missing fishermen were rescued within the vicinity of Animisola island, Masbate at 1:15 in the afternoon, today.

The eight fishermen went fishing venture on board two separate motorized banca (MB Gani and Camil) at around 4:00 in the morning on Monday.

Capt. Macababbad identified the fishermen on board MB Gani as Oscar Ricarte, Giovani Ricarte, Loloy Caralde and Rachel Riflora, while those on board MB Camil as Danilo Tejares, Danny Barraquel, Ricardo Riflora, Boyet Barraquel and Ricardo Riflora all residents of Barangay Pio Duran, Balatan, Camarines Sur.

Capt. Macababbad reiterated his call to all fishermen not to venture into the sea during bad weather with or without typhoon signal.(Mike de la Rama/PNA)
