SORSOGON CITY – The local New People’s Army command declares suspension of military operation (SOMO) this holiday season.

In a statement released by Celso Minguez Command in Sorsogon that in the spirit of Christmas the National Democratic Front (NDF) declares ceasefire starting December 16, 2010 until January 2, 2011.

Sorsogon NPA spokesperson Samuel Guerrero said that declaration will serve as gestures of the revolutionary movement on the resumption of peace talks leading to the success of lasting peace and development of the country.

Meanwhile, Guerrero condemns the action and atrocities of Philippine Army that results to the killing of two NPA rebels and capture of three others in Barangay San Isidro, Barcelona, Sorsogon last December 7, 2010.

Guerrero said that it is a clear violation and sabotage of the declaration of SOMO in the areas affected by the eruption of Bulusan volcano.

Guerrero added that said rebel groups are soliciting materials for the forthcoming rehabilitation and relief operation in areas affected by eruption.

“We also salute our comrade who sacrifice their lives for the interest of Filipino people”, Guerrero ended. BICOLTODAY.com
