LEGAZPI CITY – The militant Kilusang Mayo Uno-Bikol (KMU-Bikol) hit the ongoing black propaganda campaign being spearheaded by the 9th Infantry Division of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) against the organization as well as other militant groups and their leaders.
According to Leo Caballero, head of the Human Rights Department of KMU-Bikol and one of those being maligned by AFP and its false witnesses, “I would like to put on record that I do not know this so-called Edwin Nazarionda or “Marojorie” and I hope that he and his cohorts stop slandering my name and my associates. I also want to give him a piece of advice and not to let himself to be used by the military because when they are through with him then he would just be discarded or eliminated like many before him,”
“All I am doing is fighting for the rights of workers particularly our right for decent wages, sustainable jobs. Is the military so bothered by this that they have to make up false charges against me? It is becoming clearer by the day that the Aquino administration is similar with the Arroyo regime especially in dealing with workers and labor issues,” he said.
“Workers in Bicol have long been exploited and oppressed. The military is trying to further increase this suffering by eliminating the voices that defend the working class. But we will not be cowed; the struggle will continue and intensify,” added the militant leader.
“This case is also part of the long standing policy of the military of linking our organization as well as other militant groups with the CPP-NPA-NDF. “We have long proven that this is not true and KMU’s sterling track record of service to the people speaks for itself. If the military will continue with this then they will again be humiliated,” ended Caballero. BICOLTODAY.com
