CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region – About 12 employees of National Food Authority (NFA) in the Bicol Region will lose their jobs during implementation of Rice Tariffication Law.

Or, the displaced employees can be assigned to other departments, or re-apply again, but these are still speculative.

In NFA-Camarines Sur, three (3) employees may get the “axe” owing to “restructuring” in the licensing and enforcement section.

This is the result by the approval of the Implementing Rules and Regulation of the law, which has removed the regulatory functions of NFA over the importation of rice from other countries.

The termination of NFA employees have adverse effect over agency operations on the procurement of palay from local farmers and buffer stocking.

NFA’s “restructuring” is a spin-off from the rice crisis that happened in 2018. [BicolToday.com]
