DARAGA, Albay – (Updated) More questions, instead of answers, are hanging following the surrender of Daraga town Mayor Carlwyn Baldo over the week who was declared by the authorities as “fugitive from justice” and facing double murder & frustrated murder cases.

The first unanswered question, whether the beleaguered mayor shall be allowed to vote in the mid-,term elections on May 13, 2019 as he is running re-election in the premier municipality of Daraga, Albay.

Secondly, it was not clear whether his lawyer Merito Levensky Fernandez could move for a motion to bail Baldo out of jail depending on the appreciation of the judge according to evidences and participation of the accused in the murder of former Ako Bikol partylist representative Rodel Batocabe last Dec 22, 2018.

As this developed, Baldo camp has not released any information regarding circumstances behind the alleged voluntary surrender of the mayor to Judge Maria Theresa Loquillon of Regional Trial Court Branch 10.

Loquillon immediately expressed her gag order to journalists that no photo, camera interview with Baldo after a closed door surrender took place in her chamber. []
