3 family members drown to attend religious “Pabasa” off Tinambac coast, Camarines Sur

TINAMBAC, Camarines Sur – A family of three left home Friday, March 23, to attend a traditional “Pabasa”, a whole -day religious rite of song depicting the passion of Jesus Christ in time for the Holy Week, when tragedy struck.

The tragedy happened when they drowned off Sitio Lebanon, Barangay Buenavista, Tinambac, this province.

The three family members drowned, father Rolando Quiñones, 50 years old, mother Belen Quiñones, and their daughter, Lovely Quiñones, 9 years old, were found floating off the coast of Barangay Buenavista. A capsized wooden banca was also recovered.

Investigation revealed the victims left their residence at about 3:00PM of March 23, 2019 on-board a wooden banca on their way to attend a traditional “PABASA” at the house of their parents.

It was not determined if the victims drowned on the way to the “Pabasa”, or they were on their way home.

Tinambac authorities had investigated the incident. [BicolToday.com]
