Sorsogon town councilor bet killed in drug buy-bust


PILAR, Sorsogon — A suspected drug -dealer in this province, who was also a candidate for town councilor was gunned down by anti-drug agents during a buy-bust operation on Wednesday, January 30, around 8:30 PM at Brgy. Binanuahan, this town.

Shot dead was Roy Morales Lumbao, 55 years old, married, former Barangay Chairman and a resident of Brgy. Binanuahan, Pilar, Sorsogon.

Lumbao was listed as rank number 8 under the Provincial Target Watchlist of PDEA Sorsogon. Joint elements of Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Unit of Sorsogon PPO (Lead Unit), Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, PRO 5, Municipal Drug Enforcement Unit of Pilar MPS and PDEA Sorsogon, conducted the buy-bust operation.

According to police report, police operatives introduced themselves as police officers, right after the exchanged of buy-bust money and the purchased of suspected “shabu”. The suspect suddenly drew a firearm and fired upon the operating PNP personnel, who were forced to return fire.

Lumbao sustained multiple gunshot wounds in various parts of his body resulting to his untimely death, as described by Dr. David Daza, Municipal Health Officer.

Recovered from Lumbao are:
One (1) piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu”, weighing approximately 5 grams, with estimated market value amounting to Php 18,000.00 obtained through buy-bust operation;

One (1) piece of Php 1,000.00 peso bill buy-bust money,;

Seventeen (17) pieces of Php 1,000.00 boodle money; and

One (1) unit of caliber .45 pistol Norinco bearing serial number 17t352 with one (1) chamber loaded live ammunition and one magazine inserted loaded with one (1) live ammunition;

Further, the crime scene was processed from 10:45 PM of January 30, 2019 and ended around 1:35 AM of January 31, 2019 by personnel of Sorsogon Provincial Crime Laboratory Field Office. Also recovered from the scene are:
Two (2) pieces of fired cartridge cases for caliber .45;

Six (6) pieces of fired cartridge cases for caliber 9mm;

One (1) piece of fired slug for unknown caliber recovered in front of entrance door;

One (1) piece of fired slugs for unknown caliber recovered at the back of the cadaver;

One (1) piece of fired slug recovered at the back of TV rack;

One (1) piece of dud ammunition for caliber .45;

One (1) unit of Samsung android phone;

One (1) piece of colored green sling bag containing the following: Eye drop, power bank, scissor, five (5) pieces I.D. pictures, Centrum vitamins, Rogin-E vitamins, Dickies shades, screw driver, cotton buds, copies of Deed of Absolute Sale, Subpoena, and other documents.

The inventory, markings and sealing of pieces of evidence were conducted in the presence of the following witnesses: from Pasalinggaya FM Radio Media Representative, DOJ Representative and two (2) Barangay Kagawad. []
