Deadly bullets for birthday celebrant in Sorsogon City

SORSOGON CITY — A birthday celebrant was in the height of drinking session with invited friends when he had an argument with a drinking guest, leading to a fist fight, and later ended up to his killing by gun.

The tragic incident happened Sunday, October 28, 2018, at around 1:30 in the afternoon, at Farmers Ville, 11th St. OLV, Barangay Pangpang, this city.

According to PSupt Edison A. Dumangas, city police chief, the victim, Jessie Laceda Alamer, 48 years old, married, construction worker, while celebrating his birthday with his friends together with suspect, Edward Bregais Botia, 22 years old, single, unemployed, also a resident of Farmers Ville, 13th St. were in the middle of their drinking session, a heated argument ensued between the duo thus, suspect Botia challenged the victim in a fistfight in which a commotion ensued between them.

The police investigation said suspect Botia went home and came back armed with a gun of unknown caliber, and shot Alamer twice, hitting him on the neck and right hand. After the shooting, Botia fled on foot heading towards a grassy portion of Imperial Subdivision of the same Barangay bringing along the firearm used, while victim Alamer was brought by the responding team to SMMGH for medical treatment, but was declared dead on arrival. The suspect was reported in hiding.
