Sorsogon NPA executes military spy

SORSOGON CITY — A New People’s Army (NPA) hit team in Sorsogon claimed the killing of a paramilitary informer who had been pretending as a taho/soy vendor to get information in far-flung areas suspected as NPA strongholds.

Killed on the spot by a NPA team was Joselito Barlow Sabino, 35 years old, a member of the CAFGU paramilitary group attached with the 31st IB of the Phil. Army. He was a resident of Barangay Vinisitahan, Donsol.

The spy was intercepted along Barangay Gogon, Donsol, this province and was meted “revolutionary punishment” by a team of the NPA-Celso Minguez Command (NPA-CMC) about 11:30 am, Monday, August 13, this year.

Police investigators later found the body blindfolded, hogtied, at the vicinity of the boundary of Brgy. San Vicente and Mabini, same town. Police claimed about three hitmen were involved in the killing.

Police confirmed the victim was Sabino, an active member of CAA based in Pangpang Detachment, Donsol, Sorsogon under 96th IB, Charlie Coy and a resident of Brgy. Vinisitahan.

In a related development, NPA-CMC, in a press statement sent Tuesday to media, said the killing of the spy was punishment as “legitimate target” by the movement for his direct participation in counter-insurgency activities pursued by the AFP. []
