SORSOGON CITY – The chiefs of police of Barcelona and Magallanes town, Sorsogon Province were relieved for not observing full alert status after they were found absent during inspection conducted by provincial police office.

The sacked police chiefs will be administratively investigated for neglect of duty.

It can be recalled that declaration of full alert status by Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (SPPO) was in response to the attack on Lapinig Municipal Police Station in Northern Samar on August 10, 2018 by more than 50 NPA fighters who injured a policeman and carted away ten (10) M-16 rifle and four (4) Glock pistols.

According to Police Senior Superintendent Marlon C. Tejada, PNP provincial director, the relief of 2 police chiefs will serve as stern warning to other subordinate unit commanders under his jurisdiction against complacency and laxity. [BicolToday.com]
