Sorsogon NPA disowns captured red fighter, a “civilian-farmer”

By News Team

SORSOGON CITY, Sorsogon Province – The New People’s Army (NPA) operating in this province disowned the recently-captured NPA guerrilla, as reported by the military, as a “had-been”, and no longer connected in the underground rebel group.

The NPA Celso Minguez Command (CMC) refuted the allegation of the Philippine Army’s 31st IBPA that Amadeo “Onyo” Grayda, alias Ka Rigor, is an NPA fighter, and instead, the rebel group insisted Grayda is a civilian and resident of Catanusan, Juban, this province.

“The affected person is a civilian now, who has long disassociated himself from the revolutionary organization, NPA-CMC after he was captured in 2009, and freed by the state after a year and 2 months in prison. After his release, he didn’t return back to rejoin his group and has been living as civilian and farmer.” rebel spokesperson Samuel Guerrero, said in a statement released Sunday to the media.

“This is a desperate program by the AFP of re-arresting former NPA members who had been captured and freed later and, after several months or years, re-arrested again to show proof of accomplishments, at this time when the AFP has been failing in its goal of wiping out the revolutionary movement,” Guerrero insisted.

“This AFP deception has long been carried out and implemented in all areas in the country to fool the people to show that the state is winning over the people’s war,” said the rebel spokesman. []
