SIDECO offers free non-mandatory financial management training

SORSOGON CITY – The need to understand the aspects of financial management among people’s organization and its business arm, the cooperatives, is the latest offering of SIDECO (South-Luzon Federation of Cooperatives) to its’ member primaries. The training is a commitment to our member cooperatives to become conscious in safeguarding hard-earned funds, will impact a sound fiscal management, this was the assessment of Jenell Paghubasan, SIDECO chairman of the board.

SIDECO caters to agricultural workers, a sector vulnerable to the impact of economic policy, and the training aims to provide continuing education to its members and as a registered training provider of the Cooperative Development Authority since 2013 has the mandate to conduct the training. It is also a training partner of the Department of Agrarian Reform said Paghubasan.

It was learned that this is a commitment of the office of Congressman Anthony Bravo, PhD, whose strong faith in the cooperative movement as partners in nation building, granted the fund requirements for the primary member attendees for the duration of the program.

SIDECO top it with a Memo from its chief executive officer Atty. Egbert Demate that a monthly non-mandatory training program for member primaries must be initiated was revealed by Bertito Laganson, one of the board of director of SIDECO. The training design covers the do’s and don’t’s of financial management which can be easily adapted by cooperatives. This covers the concept of coop financial management, financial standards to understand the statement of operation, financial condition cash flow. It will cover annual plans and budget, its processes and related budgetary requirements. That is not limited however to member primaries, he added.

The training is the first on the line of training to run until June of 2019, the other topics include leadership and values orientation, conflict management, strategic planning and management, orientation on labor and other related laws, record management for financial and non-financial transactions, parliamentary procedures, internal control including inventory system, effective communication skills, entrepreneurship and business management skills and audit management.

Resource persons of the training are from the legal profession, business managers, educators, public accountant accredited as trainor with CDA and established speakers.

The financial management is the initial free non-mandatory training for member primaries and for non-member cooperative, a minimal fee to cover hand-outs and other training expenses will be course to each participant. [BicolToday.com]
