CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region – Church groups made their move over the week in support of beleaguered Sr. Patricia Fox who appears of being kicked out from the country.

The Movement Against Tyranny called on the Department of Justice to accept the appeal by Sr. Fox and her lawyers to review the Bureau of Immigration’s deportation order.

“To deprive Sr Pat of a review is a violation of her right to due process,” the group of Sr. Mary John Mananzan, OSB, said.

The Church group insisted Sr. Fox is a victim of President Duterte’s unpredictable tantrum.

“This woman, church worker, rights defender, and friend to the peasants poured her heart and soul to help oppressed Filipinos for almost three decades.
It is clear that her persecution is simply due to another tantrum by President Rodrigo Duterte, another display of the man’s inability to respond responsibly to truth-telling and criticism, especially when done by women,” the Movement Against Tyranny said.

“It is an injustice to order Sr Pat’s deportation with no clear outline of what she has done against the interests of the Philippines and the Filipino people,” the group said. [BicolToday.com]
