Senator Escudero reveals tourism roadmap for Sorsogon; Casiguran tourism plan cited

Casiguran Reclamation Project will house a national government center, grandstand, public park, business, and housing project.

SORSOGON CITY – Senator Chiz Escudero presented the tourism roadmap for the province of Sorsogon during his meeting with Tourism Officers.

Escudero cited some concerns in the implementation of tourism programs of local government units, such us good planning and promotion of tourist attractions.

Escudero revealed that, in 2022, the province is eyeing to host the Palarong Pambansa that would entail more accommodation facilities. It is expected around 25,000 delegates all over the country will come to Sorsogon.

He said, every LGU must be prepared ahead and to come up with more facilities and attraction that our visitors will decide to stay longer.

Food and story of each place must be presented and prepared so that visitors will be enticed to stay more and longer.

He also cited the culinary tours, medical tourism, and local talents as potential tourism attractions and truly help boost the local economy.

The end of 2022, Escudero said, he is optimistic that DONPICASO (Donsol, Pilar, Castilla, Sorsogon) road will be finished and will attract more tourists.

Meanwhile, the tourism infrastructure development in the municipality of Casiguran is now underway.

Mayor Edwin Hamor said the construction of the circumferential road, the reclamation project of more than 40 hectares, construction of more than 750 raw and duplex houses, a grandstand and national government center will help more in building up the tourism industry of Casiguran.

He also said, the modern hospital in his town in now 60% completed and is the first hospital in the province to have an elevator.

The 3 story hospital will house around 50 to 100-bed capacity and will cater not only to Casiguran but the whole province of Sorsogon.

Hamor cited, the on-going construction of 2 lane highway connecting Casiguran town and Barcelona is expected to finish this year. This road will help a lot of people in far-flung barangays in both towns to make their life easy because of road accessibility and delivering their basic commodities to the Poblacion.

In a related topic, the Tourism Office of Casiguran headed by Mr. Angel Ayala presented the inclusion of other major tourism programs amounting to 64 million pesos in the Annual Investment Plan (AIP), such as road concreting to Nagsipit Falls, construction of Tourist Reception Center and amenities.
