Universidad de Sta. Isabel turns 150

CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region — Universidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) in this city will celebrate its 150th year April 12, this year, having been founded by Catholic Bishop Francisco Gainza on April 12, 1868.

USI originally a school for women, considered the oldest in the country and Asia.

According to Catholic nun Sor Lourdes Albis, USI president, 3 days of celebration are sated on April 10 Day of Reminiscing, April 11 Day of Legacy and Fame, and April 12 Day of Celebration and Thanksgiving, and Awarding Ceremonies for Outstanding Alumnae, Alumni, and friends.

USI is formerly known then as Colegio de Ninas/Colegio de Sta Isabel, was established to render women education. [BicolToday.com]
