Barangay captain in Sorsogon shot dead

GUBAT, Sorsogon Province – A barangay captain in Gubat, this province was shot to death by an unidentified assailant on Wednesday morning. March 21.

Police identified the victim as Romeo D. Gavino of Barangay Lapinig, this town.

Police Chief Inspector Jim V. Jeremias, Gubat police chief, in his report to police Provincial Director Police Senior Superintendent Marlon C. Tejada, stated that at around 10:45 a.m. of March 21, 2018, Gavino, current Punong Barangay of Brgy. Lapinig, was shot to death by an unidentified perpetrator who was onboard a motorcycle in front of his residence, shooting him, and the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body.

The victim was brought to Sorsogon Medical Mission Group Hospital for immediate medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival by the attending physician.

The Investigator-on–Case of Gubat Municipal Police Station is now conducting an in-depth investigation of the case to determine the motive behind the killing and identify the culprits.

So far, as of Thursday, police has not yet revealed any progress in their investigation. [BicolToday]
