Chiz’ lolo Oca, ex Casiguran mayor, passes away in U.S.

CASIGURAN, Sorsogon – Former Casiguran Mayor Oscar Escudero, grandfather of Senator Chiz Escudero, passed away 4:00 a.m. (Philippine Time), September 18, in the United States due to lingering illness at 87 years old.

‘Pay Oca’, as fondly called, served as Casiguran mayor, starting 1964 to 1998.

In a brief period, he was out of office when dictator Ferdinand Marcos was disposed during the 1986 EDSA People Power uprising.

He masterminded a political comeback after EDSA.

In 1998, then newcomer Edwin “Boboy” Hamor dislodged him out from the mayor post.

He was an outstanding leader and mayor who guided Casiguran for growth.

He died on his 87th birthday.

He was the brother of Chiz grandfather who died years earlier. [BicolToday.com]
