74-year old widow in shoplift attempt of milk nabbed by LCC Supermarket – Iriga City branch

IRIGA CITY, Camarines Sur – For reasons known only to her, a 74-year old woman, who is a widow, allegedly picked up milk from a supermarket, and on her way out, sensing that she would be caught, had decided to turn back and returned the milk on the grocery shelf.

Despite of her change of mind not to shop lift, she was apprehended by supermarket personnel and turned over to the Iriga City police station.

According to Iriga police, the shoplifting suspect is Norma Fernandez, 74 years old, widow, and a resident of Purok 3, San Roque, Legazpi City.

The complainant is Libertad Consumers Corporation (LCC), located at Iriga City Public Market Branch Store, San Francisco, this city, with office address at Ziga Street, Tabaco City.

LCC, as complainant is represented by Ramon Christopher Banago Obias, 24 years old, of LCC Area Security Supervisor, who is a resident of Rodelita St., Zone 1, San Jose, this city.

According to initial police investigation, on Sunday, August 27, at about 10:30 AM, LCC personnel Ian Joseph Ibarrientos Magistrado, LCC customer relation assistant, and Christian Harold Camila Sabas., another LCC customer relation assistant brought and turned-over shoplifting suspect Fernandez to Iriga police.

As narrated to police, LCC staff Sabas was informed by his co employee- Magistrado that there was a woman whom he suspected as a theft, and when she was about to pass at LCC Super Market Entrance/Exit area, the woman refused her bag to be inspected.

Instead, the woman suddenly returned back inside the Supermarket and, LCC employee Magistrado saw the woman in the act of withdrawing from her shoulder bag two (2) packs Birch tree 300g amounting to Php 172.00 (php 86.00 each pack), one (1) can of Bear Brand 1100g amounting to Php 459.75, total amount of Php 631.75, then placing them back to the kitchenware lane thus, he apprehended the woman suspect.
