GUBAT, Sorsogon, 10Aug2017 – Jaime Ervas Estrada, the farmer mysteriously killed Tuesdaynight in Casili village, was not a member of the New People’s Army (NPA) but, a civilian, said the NPA-Celso Minguez Command (NPA-CMC)

Samuel Guerrero, spokesperson of NPA-CMC, said Estrada’s house was near the place of the ambush site.

Estrada was shot to death at about 9:45 pm Tuesday night by unidentified gunmen using high caliber rifles.

Early media reports said the house of Estrada was used by the NPAs as the secret hideaway for the 17 landmines that were used later on the August 7 ambush of an Army foot patrol.

Residents suspected that Estrada was killed out of revenge by angry Army soldiers.

The NPA ambush Monday killed 4 Army soldiers, including the platoon leader, and the wounding of 7 soldiers. [BicolToday.com]
