“Revolution must go on”, says Camarines Sur NPA over Hubilla’s death in Sorsogon clash

IRIGA CITY, Camarines Sur – The NPA Edmundo Jacob Command (NPA-EJC) in Rinconada district, Camarines Sur, deplored the wasting of human lives in the recent Sorsogon clash Friday morning that resulted to the death of two New People’s Army (NPA) fighters, one was a ranking NPA commander in the Bicol Region, and 2 civilians.

The NPA-EJC Rinconada in Camarines Sur said Sunday, in a statement, that the Duterte regime betrays the people from solving the armed conflict and its cancellation of peace talks.

The slain NPA commander was Andres Hubilla alias Ka Magno and Bunso. The other red fighter was Miguel Himor, while the 2 civilians were Dick Laura, fisherman and resident of Sitio Cabungahan, Barangay Boton and Arnel Borres, farmer in Barangay Santa Cruz, both in Casiguran, Sorsogon.

“This is a reflection of the betrayal of Duterte regime and the AFP’s brutality over its rapidly abandoning peace talks. Even in the early stages of peace negotiations, and having declared unilateral ceasefire, their operations and human rights violations continued against civilians and suspected NPA supporters. The GRP’s lack of seriousness to discuss and solve the fundamental economic and political issues that are the root causes of the armed conflict. Its only purpose is to bind the CPP-NPA to a bilateral ceasefire that will primarily dispel the fighters of the New People’s Army,” NPA Edmundo Jacob Command said.

The rebel command said President Rodrigo Duterte repeatedly highlighted the importance of the military and police, declaring “I have your backs” during his second SONA.

Duterte even defended martial law to deal with peace and order problems.

According to the NPA command, the killing of red fighters, Commander Andres “Ka Magno” Hubilla, Himor, and two civilians will never stop the fight and the advancement of the revolutionary movement across the Bicol region.

In the midst of severe crisis, the toiling Filipino masses, living in poverty and their rage over the exploitation of fertile lands by corporate capitalism, will persevere in advancing the people’s war, said the NPA command.

According to the NPA group in Rinconada district, they give their fallen comrades highest honor and salute for their heroic courage in the midst of battle.

They had firmly confronted the enemy and safeguarded the masses, and protected the principles of the entire revolutionary movement in the province of Sorsogon. [Reports from Baretang Bikonon]
