Naga City Government gives ₱500,000 for Marawi displaced people

CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region (BicolToday.com) — Naga City Government has appropriated PhP 500,000 as financial assistance to the people of Marawi City.

Naga City’s humanitarian gesture may send a sympathetic message to other local government units to send help to Marawi.

Marawi City is the stage of bloody fighting between government forces and the Maute armed group which has gained control on some areas in the city several days ago.

Harsh government military operation and clashes have sent thousands of people fleeing the city and many more, including women and children, are still trapped inside.

Refugees have ballooned to tens of thousands from a conservative estimate by DSWD to 50,000 plus, while the international Red Cross placing the number to 100,000 displaced persons with the numbers still growing up.

According to reports. street fighting and sniping from occupied buildings have been a regular occurrence over the past few days.

in humanitarian gesture, the Naga City Government set aside Php 500,000 to help the displaced people of Marawi City.
