Broadcaster under threats, defamation raps over ‘jueteng’ issue

LEGAZPI CITY (BicolToday.com) — Illegal numbers game called ‘jueteng’ here which long been operating under the guise of Small Town Lottery (STL) has stirred controversies following the attempt to change “operator” on May 15, 2017.

Threats and defamation were recorded in the police blotter of Daraga town after Brigada FM Broadcaster Jolas Lazado pressed his statement of denial to social media warning posted by a certain Jaime Glenn Llasos, retired police and said to be body guard of Mayor Gerry R Jaucian.

The public was warned under the account of Pgbi (believed Guardians Brotherhood, Inc.) stating that “Joseph Aguilar posing as Citizen Crime Watcher and lawyer wanted to know about the operations of illegal gambling by requesting an audience with the town mayor. Jaucian is the incumbent president of Albay Mayors League.

According to police report, Aguilar was barred from getting inside the office of Jaucian instead was brought to a “secret room” near mayor’s office and allegedly “interrogated” by Llasos.

The incident has created commotion which alerted the reporter, Lazado who was able to catch up portion of statements from Lllasos and Aguilar.

“I reported the incident over the radio” Lazado told this writer in dialect last Sunday at Daraga Police Station He requested police desk officer on duty to register his denial about Llasos public warning on social media that he is a member of a “Syndicate” together with Aguilar.

Lazado believed that Llasos was aiming to get even with him the reason why the latter posted defamatory remarks on social media after the altercation between Llasos and Aguilar was aired over the radio. [BicolToday.com]
