CAMARINES SUR, 13May2017 ( – Bicolano farmers strongly condemn the fascist act of the government to silence and suppress their actions towards their democratic wishes.

About 500 farmers around Bicol region gathered together during the 4th regional congress of Kilusang Magbubukid ng Bikol (KMB) at Gualandi Formation Center for Deaf, Balatas, Camarines Sur last May 10 to stand firm to the perennial problems the farmers are facing.

Delegates across 6 provinces

According to Norberto Autor, newly elected Chairman of KMB, they are hopeful to see development on the issues they have been long fighting for especially on Genuine Agrarian Reform.

They are glad that former Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) Secretary General “Ka Paeng” Mariano has been duly appointed by President Duterte as the secretary for Department of Agrarian Reform, but far from that, they still wish for the confirmation from the Commission on Appointments (CA).

Aside from consolidating the organized farmers in the region, KMB honored and recognized those members who has been committed and devoted to their works right from the start of their journey up to the last shot of their strength.

It has been attended by affiliated organizations of KMP like the Amihan, Sama Sor, Sumabak, OMA, KMM, Abaca, and BCPAI. Other progressive and allied organizations are also present to support the Congress such as BAYAN-Bicol, Kabataan partylist, Kaboronyogan Cultural Network and even some individuals from Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, and Catanduanes.
