300 Fil-Canadian tourists to visit Sorsogon

SORSOGON CITY, 4Feb2016 (BicolToday.com) – The cold weather of North America is a blessing for Sorsogon tourism as group of Filipino-Canadian opts to experience
the fun of Sorsogon.

The tourists, some with their families, are part of the Winter Escapade 3 organized by the Philippine Foreign Service Post in Canada and the Department of Tourism aimed to promote the country’s tourism among the Filipino-Canadian and their families mostly are now well-off.

This was the information of lawyer Rene Olbes, the province tourism officer in an interview with BicolToday.com as they prepare the arrival of the group.

They have coordinated with the security arrangement and with the local governments of Bulusan, Barcelona and Sorsogon City taking every precautions to make the visit an exhilarating experience and make the visitors feel the hospitality of Sorsoganons and the “it’s more fun in the Philippines” tourism push of the country.

The tourists, estimated to number around three hundred persons were organized into groups compose of fifty persons, and Sorsogon will host two of the groups this coming February 5 and 7.

The group will experience the beauty of Bulusan Lake, the craftmanship of the Karagumoy weavers of the town and they will be feasting at the environment friendly atmosphere of Balay sa Uma in San Roque which is a few kilometers from the lake after viewing the Pili plantations which are now growing in abundance.

They will also have the look of the coral made Spanish era church of the town of Barcelona which will soon become a heritage site of the province.

They will be hosted by Governor Raul Lee and City Mayor Sally Lee at Siama Hotel for a light merienda expected to be of native foods before taking a quick tour of Sorsogon City heartthrob, the Rompeolas.

The Philippine Foreign Service Post in Canada designed tour will also visit the City of Naga, Legazpi, Albay, Palawan and Manila. [BicolToday.com]
