LEGAZPI CITY, 20Feb2015 — “I’m not here to promote Albay,” celebrity Xian Lim frankly said Thursday here.

And for that, he had been highly criticized by various sectors in the province of Albay.

He was in Legazpi City for the “Fiesta Tsinoy,” an event of Filipino-Chinese community in Albay in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

Lawyer Carol Sabio, Albay Governor Joey Salceda chief of staff, lamented after she heard Lim saying this line while he was giving the actor the Albay Coffee Table book and a T-shirt printed with “Warm Albay” at Oriental Hotel, Thursday morning.

“While I am handing the T-shirt to Lim, he said he didn’t like it; then I tried to give the Coffee Table book instead, and he responded with ‘I’m not here to promote Albay’; then after that I just asked him to have a photo together but he was so uncomfortable as he looked at the camera,” Sabio said in a phone interview.

“We usually give such tokens to our visitors, but he refused to accept them, that was why we were disappointed,” she added.

Lim arrived at about 10:40 a.m. at the Legazpi City airport while the event at Albay Astrodome here started at 5:00 p.m.

Sabio said Lim was suggested by the organizer of the event to be invited as guest.

Salceda also showed his disappointment over the actor’s manners.

The governor said Lim was paid by the provincial government an amount of Php350,000 for guesting in the Fiesta Tsinoy celebration.

“It’s either: 1) His parents did not raise him well. 2) He had bad education. 3) He is not managed well. 4) His character is inversely proportional to his looks. 5) He is on to something,” he said in his official Facebook page.

The post got different reactions from thousands of Albayanos and followers of Salceda.(PNA)
