CITY OF NAGA, Bicol Region, 13June2014 (BicolToday.com) — Two (2) criminal charges were filed against Ateneo de Naga student Pio Emmanuel Mijares y Reyes, who was nabbed yesterday for heckling and interrupting President Benigno Aquino III’s Independence Day speech here.

The charges filed were believed to be hurried and railroaded by state authorities at the prosecutor’s level as they ignore filing the complaint down at the level of the local barangay court, or Lupon.

Mijares is held for violation of Articles 153 and 148 of the Revised Penal Code, or tumults and other disturbances of public order, and assault upon an agent of a person in authority.

2nd Assistant City Prosecutor Antonio D. Guerina Jr. recommended a total bail of P8,000 for the two cases.

At of press time Friday, his legal counsels, Atty. Luis Ruben General and Atty. Ricky Tomotorgo are preparing to post bail.

According to witnesses, Mijares was forcibly dragged by PSG personnel and police, clobbered and was forced to swallow the whole roll of cloth banner which was confiscated from him after the heckling.

His lawyers are planning to file a case of illegal detention against the police for exceeding more than 12 hours of the reglamentary period under police custody.

Meanwhile, netizens in the social media networks reacted sharply over the brute apprehension by security men of Mijares.

Netizens Fred Sorreda and Maricel Rafer, said they were too sensitive – a torn clothing was considered a direct assault. They were referring to security men who forcefully nabbed Mijares, but during the commotion, a security man’s clothing was torn.

Vince Casilihan, human rights activist, swore the police were lying. “The Presidential security pinned Mijares down, gagged him with a piece of clothe and forced their bodies on him while the cops made the assault.”

Mijares was arrested yesterday for shouting “Patalsikin ang Pork Barrel King! Walang pagbabago sa Pilipinas!”, while holding a banner with the words “Oust PNoy,” “Scrap all forms of pork,” and “DAP ibasura,” during the President’s speech.

Other netizens Alhomhit Lheohr, Jonathan Gojar Bajaro, and Emmanuel Azuela commended MIjares for his courage. [BicolToday.com]

Maski dai mo gusto si Pnoy, irespeto mo naman bilang Presidente ng Pinas. Ang issues mo legitimate but you could gain more sympathisers kung sa tamang paagi mo gibohon.
